My soul is autumn.

The cold snap has turned my leaves

   Crisp brown.

Dead flowers and foliage,

   Superflous and untidy,

Adorn my garden, awaiting the Gardener's firm yank.

IMG_1533

Humility blushes as once beautiful leaves

   Are shed one by one,

   Leaving me embarrassed

   At my unsightly appearance.

IMG_1532

Cold gray winds mock my insignificance,

   Rattling inadequate dead leaves still

   Clinging to me.

My soul is autumn

But my roots are alive in Him.

I was tagged by Kimmers82 and have to grab the book closest to me and read the 5 complete sentence on the 161st page.... So here goes!

"We actually enter into His presence through praise, and our faith in Him is proven through our willingness to thank Him in all circumstances-- no matter how destructive we may think they could be."

(it's from The Joy of a Word Filled Family, by Dr. John Barnett)

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

                                                   ~Albert Camus

I'm waiting for the leaves to turn... won't be long! The squirrels around our yard are getting braver.  My dog likes to keep them treed, but they have nuts to stash in the yard so they are getting pretty daring.  Funny to watch.

I better get busy around here... it feels like a lazy rainy day where I would like to crawl back in bed and read all day, but that's just a daydream to even consider it!  Ha ha!  Even so, the weather is feeling cooler and that feels nice to me!

I haven't been keeping up my xanga here that much lately... so when I get back on here I start talking about the weather- isn't that funny?

Something about autumn brings out so many different sensations--

The quiet solitary feeling of the darkening skies.

The enthusiastic cheers of a football game and the cheerleaders.

The nostalgia of friendships of yesteryear.

The romance of chilly evenings shared with a loved one.

   The satisfaction of the harvest.

The coziness of pulling the favorite warm sweaters out to wear again.

The comaraderie of hoping to share fun moments with a smile.

So many special feelings go along with fall in my life, my memories, my present and it goes season to season into the future.

ecard

Not much going on- just meetings... and more meetings... I get really tired of meetings.

Every time I cut back on activities, I end up filling the time slot with something else (or a couple other things...).  I need to simplify my life a bit and just focus on the basics...

but when can I fit "simplifying my schedule" into my busy weeks?

I guess I just need to remember to redirect my focus to simpler things... like faith, family and friends.

And if it needs a meeting- I probably don't need to add it to my days.
